West Indy Wiki was started in October of 2007 - the brainchild of the West Indianapolis IT Infrastructure Committee. The founding committee members are: West Indianapolis Neighborhood Congress, West Indianapolis Development Corporation and the Marry Rigg Neighborhood Center. Implementation and coding was completed by John Fox, as his gift to the community for Christmas 2007.
In April 2008, West Indy Wiki ownership was transferred to New Media Designs, an online media management firm owned by Mr. Fox.
The site was created from the need for one "umbrella" site to bring together all the area organization's websites and to function as a one-stop shop for West Indianapolis news and culture.
